Re: 7mm [.284] or 6.5x47L ?
...I have got my wife shooting the longs with the Shehane now. Recoil is no big deal... That's great news Cameron. I agree that with the F-Open 10Kg weight limit and a bit of experimentation with hold etc., the 284 is not unpleasant in fact I think better behaved than some of the lighter 308s aroun...

Re: Why Are No Actions made in OZ!
Very interesting Pete. So its not for lack of trying that we don't have an Australian Rem clone. With the current exchange rate, maybe someone needs to back their judgement, and place a very big order with one of the numerous Rem clone makers in the US. You would need to choose one with a good produ...

Re: Why no 7mms in LRBR Comps
AlanF. I have a 6.5x55 Imp on the way, but am also thinking about a 6.5 WSSM, just to experiment. Should be fun - my preference would be the 6.5x55AI. I read one report with the WSSM saying they get volatile when loaded near maximum pressure. Its interesting that you're moving away from 7mm just wh...

Re: wrong scope?
Trevor, You've done the right thing by deciding to get another scope. Even with the flattest shooting calibres in common use, 100yd to 1000yd in 20 minutes is impossible e.g. a 7mm 180gn Berger at MV of 3000fps drops about 25 MOA between those two ranges. A .308 (is this what you have?) with 155gn D...

Re: Electronic target cams
I agree generally with what you say, but in some conditions I find that chasing the last shot can actually be the BEST strategy. I stand by that statement - note that I said in SOME conditions e.g. the flags are wet and no mirage. ... you sir have been poo pooin LRBR over at your place for years ,m...

Re: Electronic target cams
Alan F, You part of this debate is from what you know about F/class ,you may well hold court over on your forum but in fact you know squat about either the FLY or LR BR ..When you come on over to Benchrest and actually start winning, if your honest i would like to hear the way you think we should b...

Re: Electronic target cams
...One thing has been consistently drummed in is learn to read the wind, dont chase the last shot. I know on clear days I have done this, the bullet hole was visible but not where it should have been and then you adjust your hold off and put the next one somewhere else because the crucial variable ...

Re: Electronic target cams
For those who say that seeing the fall of shot isn't an advantage, ask yourself this : if you saw a shot fall on its own at 9 or 3 o'clock, wouldn't you take corrective aim for your next shot? If on a particular day some shooter's equipment allows them to see the fall of shot, and others' equipment ...

Just An Idea
As with Snipewrench, I've never shot fly. It does strike me that super high definition scopes, big bullet holes, and especially target cameras would improve the shooter's ability to see where the shots are falling on the target. And in tricky conditions that must be an advantage. Can I suggest that ...

...I have a couple of possibles at 300y heaps of 99's.No possibles at 400yards,again some 99's.A couple of possibles at 500and 600. From there back its 99,98,98 for 700,800 and 900.Still learning this wind game. Macca, With scores like that you would be very competitive at Queens level. NSW Queens ...

Re: 3rd time... almost lucky
...Brad.... Why are you not wanting to step up into a 6mm version instead of a 7 twist 0.224 barrel? For myself, being both 500m Fly and 1000yd BR, I would not even consider a 22 version of my Dasher... Everyone to their own A/I. One of the good things about F-Open is the variety of calibres. I wou...

Re: Second time at F open
Yes good advice Cameron. Keep using 6mms at the longs Rod. And tell all your mates to do the same. Meanwhile Cameron will battle on with his 7mm.singleshot wrote:Rod, I reckon you could make the 6brx or 6 Dasher sing at 1000yds!!!
