Re: Picked up this today (cz527 17 rem)

Shot a few loads over the chrono as I had some huge damage on 2 foxes. 1st one was smack on 100m and he was facing away at 45 degrees. I sent one into the rib cage and it exited out the front of his chest leaving a fist sized hole. The second was at 155m front on. Went for the front on chest shot an...

Re: Field Target Competition - Hornsby Smallbore Range - Sat 18th Jul

It was an enjoyable day for all that attended.

If you don't mind me asking where did you get the newer gamo targets from JWD?

Re: Bunny's vs the Fx royale

Hehe druid. That's what happens when you shoot too many on one property. I'll be lucky to get 1-2 later this week.
I may need to look for a few new properties!

Re: 221 fireball velocities

I had 5 loaded rounds left and figured I may as well shoot a group at 100 while I was mucking around with the 17 rem. I fired these one after another with no break in between. Load shoot, load shoot and so on. I was astonished at the group when I walked over to the target. It was shot using torch li...

Re: Picked up this today

Made up some more 25gr HP loads to try. Again they were shot using torch light as I didn't get time to do it earlier. I removed the actual target as it was raining and ruined the paper. The cardboard box was fine though and it shows the groups. This was the 23.8gr load. http://i37.photobucket.com/al...

Re: Bunny's vs the Fx royale

Cheers Geoff Went out for an hour last night. Heavy fog limited vision but only saw 3 rabbits and shot 2. The tally for this narrow 5 acre property is now up to 33. The best thing about it is the owner doesn't even realise that I've shot there until I call him the day after to let him know how I wen...

Re: Picked up this today

Yeah the 25gr are the ones I want to shoot. I've never been a fan of the poly tipped ammo. The bullet holes look a bit funny as I had it stapled to a cardboard box that was out of shape. It has a 1 in 9 twist barrel so it shouldn't have any trouble from what I've read. I will definitely give the 25g...

Re: Picked up this today

I finally managed to shoot some reloads I made up. I had waited well over a month to shoot them. It was dark when I started shooting so I used my night master xsearcher (led torch) to illuminate the target. It was also about 3 degrees at the time of shooting but there was little to no wind which was...

Re: Bunny's vs the Fx royale

Went for a quick shoot on a local 5 acre property. Shot 4 in a row without moving which was fun. Only 6 all up but was a fun few hour's. The near full moon was annoying. I Spooked more rabbit's than I shot. http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e78/predator500bl/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20150629_215205_812....

Re: Bunny's vs the Fx royale

Finally got out for another shoot with a mate. I expected more but it was a good haul. The 22 royale and jsb 13.4gr are doing their job nicely. It was a bright night so the rabbit's were spooked easily within AR ranges http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e78/predator500bl/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20150612...

Re: Bunny's vs the Fx royale

I don't know about that camel. I'd need a 20cal haha.
Seems pretty quiet at the moment. I expected a lot more rabbits on that property. If the rain holds off tomorrow I will go to a local 5 acre property and see if I can bag a few.

Re: Bunny's vs the Fx royale

We have been getting some low numbers lately. Most shoots have been under 5. That changed with a few hours on a mate's new permission. We would have had more if I didn't shoot over a couple. The 25cal Fx royale and nitesite eagle were used. http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e78/predator500bl/Mobile%...

Re: Picked up this today

I'm yet to shoot a 20cal so I might stay away from one or my wallet maybe become lighter. Yeah it's Brendan Barry. I will be lucky to wear the barrel out that's on it, let alone a couple. I'm definitely impressed with the .17 though. Thanks for the advice on the scopes. I'm looking at the 6-18 meopr...

Re: 2207 in the 17 remington

Cheers big G
I will give the 2207 a try and see how it goes.
8208 will also get a run but it would be good to get rid of the 2207

Thanks

Re: Picked up this today

Finally shot the cz on the weekend. Its only wearing a vx1 4-12 but it performed well considering no load development was done. It was 9pm on Sunday night when I finally got to shoot it. Ran the barrel in (nice and cold in Goulburn) and sighted it in at 50m. I was only shooting off a bipod but it wa...
