Has anyone tried out to 600 with a .22.250 Rem 1/14 twist, and how did you go?

Knackers

I have shot the 600 with my 223 in 1 in 12 twist shooting 55gn ballistic tips and it went reasonably well.

Last week we also had a bloke shoot his remington 223 which had a 1 in 12 twist with 55 grainers and he had no trouble getting there so I can't see why your 22-250 wouldn't.

Hi All

Just wondering if dates have been secured and confirmed for the postal shoots in May?

If you can post the dates and locations you will be shooting might give some of the other members here that are not LR BR shooters but expressed an interest a chance to come along and have a go.

For those that are interested Townsville will be shooting on the 25th of May

albow,

Not yet finalised but looking like 8th June (Sunday of long weekend) at Lyndhurst. Yes I know its not May but its as close as we can get. Also now that the NSW Fly at Batemans Bay has moved to the 21st & 22nd June there may be a few blokes with the long weekend off and no shoot to go to anymore .. makes the 600 yd look like a good practice for the Fly 2 weeks later.

Will let you know when its finalised.

cheers

Knackers, I know Klicker shoots his 22/250 in FClass Open with 55Grain Noslers out to 600, out of a savage varmint with a 1/14 twist barrel so you should be fine. At 700 though its no good, start to destabalise so he pulls out the 7mm RM from then on.

Cheers

Simpson,

No 600 yd shoots at the moment around BrisVegas although maybe in the future there will be. The real issue is will there be enough interest to make running a shoot worthwhile ???

Fair enough, I hadn't read anything about Brisbane on here so I just thought I would ask the question.

We will be having a 600yd shoot on the 20th of July at Biloela when travelling down to the 1000yd matches the following weekend but is about 500k's for you to get there :D

The other option is to go to Lynhurst in June when Rinso gets their shoot running as it will be a couple hundred kilometers closer..... or shoot both

Both seem a bit too far to travel if I am only going to watch. I am yet to participate in a "match" as yet.

I could not agree with Rinso more about having a go.

You don't need a proper benchrest gun to have a go as any factory rifle will do and the 600 would be the best of the long range benchrest matches to shoot as your first time.
