well done Ned

Post by trevort »

I know Ned is an experienced BR competitor and shoots Fclass but at the Procal today he told me it was his first 500m Fly match.

Hmmm, he came second in LG. Not bad for his first fly shoot. 195.1 I think!!

I came 10th out of 16, not getting much better!! Can I blame conditions? Last shot of the day just disappeared!

G'day Trev,
thanks mate  Yes that's right my first EVER 500m fly shoot, not even a club match.

But you forgot to say my B target (10pts)was a complete stuff up! With shots sprayed from one side to the other across the target! My result was no more than beginneers luck! And I was totally shocked when PVM told me that I was 2nd, I had no idea that I was anywhere near the top 5

I've seen many TOP shooters be hammered by Little River and as you know there were quite a few in that class yesterday. Anyway, as Jimbo says, you're only as good as your last group/match, next one will be much harder I'm sure.

10th is not so bad either, as many of the good shooters were being caught out too, so not too shabby mate! Anyway, how much LR/500m stuff have you shot? As I recall, you only started comp shooting a few years ago, whereas, I have shot 100/200 BR for 13 odd years and F class for 2-3yrs so, chin up, practice practice practice and I'm CERTAIN you too, can be up there.

Also, it was a great pleasure to meet a number of AV members, G'day Rinso, SC, TrevT & Festa :D

Perhaps, I'll havta get to more 500m shoots

cheerio Ned

PS Mark White (Vic) took out HG with 215pts, not sure who won the LG, but only 4 shooters scored +200pts. many shooters got 1 fly and a couple got 2 flies. I'm sure PVM will have the full results sometime next week

Ned, Pete came first in LG with 209 and one maybe 2 flies.

I was pretty happy with my last target with the first four shots scoring 30.1. Then the wind changed direction competely and aiming at the red dot on splash plate (still had 2 sighters) one right on the edge of the splash plate and another hit the frame close by, back on the target to try to put the 5th into the nice little four shot group and held off exactly the right amount to compensate for the wind change as shown by the sighters. Flags looked the same, bang. No sign of it, not even on the paper. I think someone once told me when you have to change your hold over then only move the point of aim half the amount. might try that next time.

Practice will be close to non existent soon as the wife is fed up with being broke and starts weekend work next weekend. i'm Mr Mom on the weekends from now on and a comp will be a special occasion.

Practice, shooting , what's that.

Trev, as my wife has , about 6 years too late started work, and this involves Sat and Sunday, just getting to Springvale for a .22 shot is difficult enough, let alone Ltl River.

All too fully aware of how domestic issues can drastically cut back on time you want to spend shooting, whether its having go at rabbits, foxes or putting holes in paper at my seeming max of 100 metres, may try 150-200 next time am @ Ltl River, and see if I can hit the target.

As for 500 and 1000 metres, does not figure on my radar.

But to each their own.
