My new Tikka Super Varmint. 222 cal

Post by New to 223 »

Hi guys,

my new Tikka is finally ready for its first shooting\zeroing session.

The moment the wind and rain stops, i'll be out shooting and testing different factory ammunition.

What ammo are fellow members using is this rifle\calibre?

Thanks also to fellow members who gave some valuable advise regarding cleaning.

T3 V's a great gun..very accurate
Got one in 308 ....it likes most factory ammo ..got the best groups with 130gr federal hp (trial and error as I don't reload)
As each gun is different I would try assorted brands in either 50gr or 55gr
Look forward to see how she shoots :D
Cheers Mark

That's a very nice choice. I've seen what Sako 22-250 can do with his and it's impressive.

Just got a 223 T3 thats 100rnds old. 50gr nosler BT's seem to do well. Mind you book max with BM8208 and adi brass with fed gold primers only got me 3167fps which is rather slow. Now way over max without pressure getting just under 3400fps. You will need to start below max and work up in case I just got a slow barrel.

Tested seating depth today, 27gr BM8208 (safe in my rifle but start within the book range) adi brass, fed gold medal primer, and a 50gr nosler BT seated to 2.260" OAL produces very nice groups. 2.270 was good also but 2.250 wasnt great at all.
