I just pick up a 22 air rifle to knock off a few pesty birds. My question is as its a pump type gun, whats the go, the more you pump it the better ? Or is there a limit before you break it ? Cheers Ron

Hi Ron,

They are great little guns the Benji pumpers. Nice to be recoil free too so aids in shooting them accurately. Figure around 8 pumps for a maximum power shot, obviously the less you pump it the lower the power. Once you start trying to exceed 8 pumps you either start bending cocking arms or putting excess force on the hinge which will elongate the hole and stuff it. They will take up to 10 pumps occasionally as i understanding it up I think thats starting to stress them too much.

I saw one on Horsely Park's website for $250 and I probably should have grabbed it. They really are a fun little gun.

I know Tim at Mac1 in Los Angeles does a steroid conversion on them and can boost the power substantially and also offers a billet cocking lever. I think he also modifies the cocking hinge pin and works on the valve to bump the power. I think to get the work done though he needs the gun, not sure if it's just drop in parts but I dont think it is.

A ghost ring/peep sight goes nicely on these guns as you can't easily mount a scope and improves over the original open sights. But just blaze away with it! :auto:

Cheers, JD

Hi JD , thanks for the info. I picked this one up of used guns for $125 and its in pretty good nick to. I had a FWB target air rifle and it was getting used more for picking off critters than targets. I sold it for what i paid and put that $1900 towards something more worth while. I just got some RWS 22 Hollow points today , so those birds that keep shitting on my ute better whatch out. That steriod conversion sounds very interesting , il do a google search and have a read. Thanks again Cheers Ron

Hi all, ive been playing round with my air rifle for a few weeks now and its not a toy. This thing has plenty of power for knocking off small game. I just asked my gunsmith if he would be able to attach a picatinny rail to it so i can mount a scope. He quoted my a $100 , so il drop it off to him next week. Il report back when the jobs done and post some pictures. Cheers Ron
