GRAPHIC no kiddies please ... .25 Predator Polymag pellet terminal effect. . GRAPHIC.

The Common or Indian Myna is recognized as one of the world's 100 worst invasive feral species of any kind now spreading around the world. It is one of only three bird species on the 100 list. We on the east coast pretty much understand this bird as enemy # 1. A refresher in case this has passed you by:
http://fennerschool-associated.anu.edu. ... oblem.html
Some time ago I reported the damage of the .22 cal Predator polymer tipped pellet on a Common Myna bird. (A Search using "Myna +Predator +Yrrah" might find some references).
This 26 gr .25 Predator test pellet was shot at 880 fps MV at 20 yard range and seems much more devastating in terminal effect than even the .22 cal Predator pellet..
The Myna bird was standing front-on on the ground at 20 yards. Point of entry was high in the chest just below the neck, exit was at the rear of the bird.
The bird has not been moved and is pictured exactly as it fell.
Pretty much everything between POEntry and POExit was totally destroyed including the whole breast and breast bone and keel blown away. The pellet in the pic gives some idea of the effect relative to the pellet's dimensions. The bird is approx 10 inches in length.
Along with grouping precision and accuracy this adds to the accumulating data on this pellet which is now just reaching the markets around the world. . We have waited a couple of years since first encouraging Predator International and JSB to make such a pellet. You will hear much more of these pellets as hunters "discover" them. They will be too expensive for plinking beer cans or for habitual target practice. Rather they will find their niche in hunting small to somewhat larger animals up to foxes using higher power PCPs. The shots in this post were made with a 45 fpe BSA Special Hornet.
Hunting accuracy of the JSB made .25 Predator Polymag at 50 yards compared to JSB .25 Kings:

The 26 gr Predator 0.25 pellet is the middle one below. To the left is the 25.4 gr JSB 0.25 King and to the right is the 0.25 cal Benjamin 27.8 gr pellet made by Crosman. ... Left click the address:

Should have included this but if you look at the Myna bird pic you will see a Predator resting on its neck ...... Kind regards, Harry.

They sure are nasty Harry! I don't use any other pellet any more on the Mynah's, with the more modest energy of my R9 in 20 cal they still hit em so hard, had a couple do back flips .
Once again thanks its always good to read your posts Harry

No, LR, I have no personal web site. When I have experiment results or something to say that I think others might get something from I post them on the USA Yellow Forum and here, and occasionally on the BSA Forum in UK if it is relevant to BSA rifles.LoneRider wrote:harry, have you got your own web site where you upload all this stuff ?

If you have friends in the UK they could read some of my contributions there by doing a "SEARCH" using "Yrrah" on the BSA forum - address is:
http://bsaog.co.uk/forum/index.php ... they may have to sign up to read there.
The USA Yellow Forum address is:
http://www.network54.com/Forum/79537/
and again a "SEARCH" using "Yrrah" as a key word will bring up dozens of pages of stuff. Using other key words in concert will narrow the searches eg., "Yrrah +mynah +predator" or "Yrrah + 100 +yards + moa+ etc.
Thanks for your response, ... Kind regards, Harry.

I don't have to convince you then Ryan. If your rifle likes them they are the bee's knees, the ant's pants as a mate from Cessnock would say.stinkitup wrote:They sure are nasty Harry! An acquaintance in Florida USA shoots squirrels with an R9 in .20 cal out to 60 + yards. His rifle is absolutely deadly with the Predators. He has a drop-in Vortek power module and shoots at about 17 fpe from memory. The module is about US $79 I think and makes the rifle very very smooth at that high power level:

Keep up the good work

Re: GRAPHIC no kiddies please ... .25 Predator Polymag pelle
Harry judging by the effect of the big Predator on the Myna, your "Beeza" performance in .25 makes it a 50-70 Yard fox gun in my book. I by some fiddling with internals stretched my FX Gladiator out to 34fpe with .22 Predators and over time "Fluked" 3 foxes (All close range 30-35 Yards Whistled up head shots) and a few got away minus some fur and their dignity. So it looks like time for me to go up a calibre. The thing that got me going on fox shooting with the .22 FX was the Bone penetration etc tests you did with the Predators some time ago.
