Are thr NF scope rings worth it at $300? whats a better option for mounting?

In my opinion, no scope rings are worth $300, surely there is something else of good quality that is a third of that price.
What rifle are they going on?

not going on any of mine, thats just how much they retail for.
just wondering if anyone could justify it and for what reason

nightforce bases $120 and for the rings it is $160, prices are in yank dollars freight is only $20 to Australia.

I love Warne; Leupy are good too...

I love whatever shane tells me to love! I wouldnt even know what rings or bases are used!

Badger, seekins, Ken Farrel and Leupold MKIV are also high quality tactical rings.

Ordered from the US they will be cheaper than the $300 NF.

I brought a set, back when the Nightforce scopes first came out...mainly because I had to as there were no other 30mm rings about...not here anyway. But were only 130 each then

They are very well made and quite heavy.

I would prolly buy a set of Kelbly double screw jobs if buying again

apparently the weaver ones are bloody good and a lot of f-class blokes are starting to use them off their picitinny rails

I have several sets of Warne Maxima rings which also fit Picatinny rails . Very solid but are a pain if you take the scope off regularly . Cost about $100 in stainless from memory .

Only commentg would be, that given weight of Nightforce scopes, would be a pity to compromise integrity of scope/rifle set up.

That said, for blokes who really know what they are doing, then by all means purchase alternative brands, provided they have very stong "shoulders"/

I use Tactical Precision Systems HRT 7075 alloy rings, (weaver style mounting) that appear to be cut from a single billet of alloy. 7075 is one of the stongest alloys used in aviation and is a aluminium/magnesium alloy from memory. I sourced them from ProCal to mount a NF8-32BR scope onto my .223 Rem700PSS.

I asked Peter VM for a strong no BS mount and he recommended these or Warne rings, I preferred the double screws and conventional split ring for strength and ease of maintenance.



About 1/2 the price of NF rings, with an exceptional finish, refined, neat design and strong, definately worth it. I'd buy another set in a flash. 4 screws per ring half to blt the scope down securely, and a 7/16" hex to bolt them to bases. I doubt they will ever come loose.

i ended up going with the quick release Leupold rings which attach on to the picitinny rail with a lever type tighner, shite loads of grip strength and 4 screws per ring. quite heavy rings with cant be a bad thing. i dont think i will bother with lapping before placing the nxs 8-32 on top

Mate you gotta lap the rings for a scope of that price and quality, you have the best that money can buy, dont screw up the fitting.

if the scope and mounts are going to be move back and forward onto different picitinny rails, eg. 6mm hunting rifle, target rifle.
