220 improved improved even more

Post by mistit »

Gday all
I had the best gunsmith as written in the kurann :D well I think so anyway do a new chamber for me
I spoke to matt at lrp a fair while ago about doing a 220 swift improved necked up to 6 mm with a 14 twist barrel for light bullets , so here it is with one fire formed case , chamber looks beautiful
And so does the cartridge with a high bc 69 Berger, shoot it tomorrow

Wouldn't that be 1895 when the US navy replaced their 45/70's with the 6mm Lee which was later necked down to 22cal to make the swift.

Look forward to reading how it performs

You need to learn how to take pics like Trev. The sun in the background needs to be near the rifle!

So it will be close to a 6-06? I've never had anything on a 220 case but have wanted a 6-06AI since I got some 280ai brass.

I guess that depends , as us enthusiasts know 1935 the swift was born which was later in 1945 improved with a 30 degree shoulder and necked up , but yes it did start as a lea navy :D

Thats a good looking rig, will be interested in the range/critter reports when they come along. Its an interesting Wildcat, that though pretty much forgotten - should be very bloody effective!!

Cheers mate
Will give it a run tomorrow
And weather permitting a proper go in a couple of weeks
Yes fellas
An oldy but a goodie I hope , I've had a heap of 6 brs , why I thought I'd give it a go is because I have a set of dies already made by whidden to suit the swift improved so was just a case of Matt running a 6 mm neck reamer up it and setting up the length of the free bire we wanted

6mm Remington improved, but without a very small rim.
