But why not use a longer escutheon that will be under the action as a type of Pillar ?

As in glued in to contact with the Ally laminate and the bottom of the action.

I don't think there is a need really. I have my original laminated timber LR stock built in 2007 that is only glued with no pillars or bolts to hold in the action in the stock. It is only glued to the timber. Over the years that rifle has shot some pretty darn good groups, aggregates and scores - an never come un-glued. The bolts on this rifle will only be "a just in case" as they will be done up after the glue in has been completed and not really torqued to a tension to hold the action.

I will try and get some good photos for this part of the build up when I do it to show how I will set it up.

You will have to show us some of the progress you are making on your new gun. I'm not into barrel blocks hence the approach I'm taking on fixing the action to the stock although good results are achieved with the blocked guns.

This time of year seems to be my build stages too. Last year while doing FIFO I built an FO rifle and the year before was my LG Not sure what I will build next year

So how do you unglue your action, big hammer , heat?

Well with this one there wont be any use using white ants, I don't think they like aluminium.

Yep glued in not to come out. Effectively a full bedding job with no release agent. To get it to let go as Rinso said I use heat by putting an old iron on the top of the action till it gets warm enough to let go however some people have said you can put them in the freezer and get them to crack off but I've never tried that.

After you have un-glued the action from your stock, do you get sticky stuff that remains on it and have a bitch of a time cleaning it off ?

Progress has been good although has slowed a bit the last few days due to other commitments but should crack on again from today to be ready for next weekend. As far as classes I'm going to still try and shoot LG as well. Plan is to move one of my other actions into my black stock again and shoot the 30 cal.

The action comes out clean as a whistle. The photo of the recoil lug was of the glue from under the action in my LG after removing the action. Just looks like a nice bedding job
