Rolling a turd in glitter

Been tarting up the savage f class 6mmBR a bit in preparation for some longer range action. Today I got a hand - I mean stand back and watched - in inlet the forend on a mill to fit and anchultz acc rail to fit the SEB Joy-pod I purchased recently
There is plenty of potential with this rifle and I really enjoy shooting a rifle that is far better that me and learning better/more consistent reloading and shooting techniques.
These are a few load testing groups I shot not long after I first got the rifle using 75gr Vmax using a couple of sandbags as a rest. There are some pretty tight groups with one shot outside but I am blaming the nut behind the butt for those. All 5 shot groups at 100m
Managed to get all 5 in the same spot for this one
Just need a 5cent piece to cover up that flyer and it would look like a ripper group
Got a bunch of heavy projies to try out just need time to load and shoot them
Cheers
James

Why a turd? All the ones I have seen shot like stink.
Good to see you are getting all the bits and pieces together.

Looks great and will be interesting to see how it er you handle the smoke screens blocking your views or gasping for fresh air from the smoke poles plumes !!
I'll lend you a couple heavy projectiles to cover those pesky flyer holes

Generally not a whole lot of love for the savages, something about being ugly - I don't see it but i have a safe full of savage/Stevens rifles. I reckon they must be a bit like me - cheap, ugly, but get the job done well

29.5gr of 2208 behind a Sierra 107 was the go to load in my savage 6mmBR.

I'll put my hand up for being your spotter as soon as you get a good spotting scope

I liked it a lot last year at the Missathon and I didn't miss with it.
Make sure you bring it this year.

Looks great James, who did the rail?
Some great groups there.
Well There will be another couple to try as well. Be interesting to see them side by side perhaps with the 6.5x55AI and the br. Now I have sorted powder seems to have settled down and will be loading up plenty of 140's for fun. Not sure why people call them ugly but I like my couple and would buy another. The stevens are great for projects too. Hmm you still have that long action stock?
