I.............I went for the nitesite viper over the other models as it was the cheapest. All of the nitesites are basically the same thing. The only parts that are different are the infared LEDs and the battery. I got around this by using an ir torch to effectively match the higher end units at a fraction of the price........(snip)..........

I use an Aldi DNV camera/monocular ($140) for scanning the surrounds before I shoulder the NV scope. Worth investing in an IR illuminator/torch. Plenty on Fleabay they'll do the job adequately.

With the inbuilt IR on the Aldi unit I can spot bunnies happily out to 130 - 150m. Attaching my Night Master Venom Strike to the side of the unit using a short weaver rail allows me to see clearly out to 200 - 220m. The only let down becomes the average optics on the unit. I have a NM800 on the scope and it is clear as day at 220m. Plenty for my needs as I am reluctant to pop anything past 150m with my 17 HMR anyway.

We have been getting some low numbers lately. Most shoots have been under 5.
That changed with a few hours on a mate's new permission. We would have had more if I didn't shoot over a couple.
The 25cal Fx royale and nitesite eagle were used.

Seems pretty quiet at the moment. I expected a lot more rabbits on that property. If the rain holds off tomorrow I will go to a local 5 acre property and see if I can bag a few.

Seems that rabbits are the "real" field target so he might have had some practice.

Finally got out for another shoot with a mate. I expected more but it was a good haul. The 22 royale and jsb 13.4gr are doing their job nicely.
It was a bright night so the rabbit's were spooked easily within AR ranges

Went for a quick shoot on a local 5 acre property.
Shot 4 in a row without moving which was fun. Only 6 all up but was a fun few hour's. The near full moon was annoying. I Spooked more rabbit's than I shot.

Went out for an hour last night. Heavy fog limited vision but only saw 3 rabbits and shot 2. The tally for this narrow 5 acre property is now up to 33.
The best thing about it is the owner doesn't even realise that I've shot there until I call him the day after to let him know how I went. The neighbour's dog's don't make a noise after I've shot a rabbit.
This is the major benefit of the night vision and a shrouded PCP air rifle.
