Ok just got home...

Barrel is a 7 twist trueflight so no stabilisation trouble here... Unless your running them in an 8 twist 22-284, I would doubt you will get stabilisation without going to a 7 twist barrel. I plan to campaign the 90gr bullets socially in a 22BRX out to 900m.

I can assure you, there is not much chance they will stabilize in an 8" twist bore, tried it in 22BR and 22/6mm imp. Occaisionaly it would sort of shoot in the 22/6mm imp, if you didnt mind big groups.

Hi Rob

I noticed on the box these only give a BC of 0.517 but the berger website gives a higher one- from your 90gr experience they havent changed the bullets have they?

Cool- i thought comparing it from the sierras something was a little wrong. Interesting to note that berger reccomend a 1:7 twist but sierra reccomend a 1:6.5 From reports I will have to back the loads off on the SMK's as thier jackets arent as strong, where I can put the 90gr VLD back to the 3000-3100fps mark. Oh I wish the barrel was here... and chambered... and screwed in.... :rifle: :rifle: :rifle:

Should be an awesome target pill .
In my experience with Bergers those that aren't recommended for hunting just zip through varmints with little expansion . Results with their 6mm 90gn boattail and 88gn low drag were like chalk and cheese . The 88gn is recommended for varmints and makes big holes. I sold off my 90 grainers to a paper puncher after trying them on foxes and rabbits with disappointing results.

Yes the VLD's are rated for hunting game, but they have designated varmint bullets as well. Barrel will be here next week so next saturday might be my day of giving them a go. Loaded a dummy round and oh my gawd do they look the goods.
