Yep, a generous bloke indeed. Helped me immensely when I popped through for a coffee after my grandmothers funeral. What he was battling, and his spirit were certainly eye-opening. Obvious was his love for his kids and wife.

Still have his Bride of Frankenstein 338Fed, which I grabbed when it came up for sale after his death. He certainly loved his Tikka 595s. May get fitted with a 30cal Maddco as I like the 30BR idea, but maybe also a varminting/bench 6mmBR as he loved both cartridges.

Still remember my promise that if his daughter ends up this way, with a deadshit boyfriend ... I'm to bust his knee-caps.

Eerie that the internet has left echos of his thoughts to this day. RIP and happy birthday.
Cheers...

Con I read the frankenstein rifle thread and was going to share but the first 5 pages have me laughing and then it goes to shit.

Is it still green? I was with him when he ordered that stock and picked it up for him!

Nice one guys.
Have read some of the old threads and he had some good advice and experience, wasn't expecting to hear he had a young family. Well done Trevort for keeping in touch with them.

A text from Caroline.

Hi Trevor
Thanks for your message today, it's nice to know you and the other shooters were thinking of Pat and us today. He would have turned 41 today. The kids and I are doing well - they are getting big, nearly 8 & 10 now! Hope you and your family are all good. Thanks again for your message. Keep in touch
Cheers

My reply

Caroline quite a few of us remember he kept that 22 for the kids and quite a few who I will vouch for as really good people would be absolutely humbled to teach them to shoot IF they would like. Sort of like something we could do for his legacy. And if it's too early we will rember when it's time

Bruce I didnt know him in his good times. He already had cancer when I met him. He struggled against it for four years.

but Con's post made me think about what knowing him did. I was going thru a nasty rotten divorce and coming out the other side. I felt pretty damm crappy a few times. Then I went and talked to Pat, not about my issues, just chatting and you saw how he was dealing with his inevitable early death and you just did not dare feel sorry for yourself.

Hey you put bits of your life in boxes and you file the boxes away while you deal with the next bit. Camel, sincerely thank you for opening this box. It is really really worth it

Camel if you think about a tee total friar Tuck crossed with Eeyore you will get close to Pat. I would try to get some banyer going winding him up he was punching out of his division with Caroline and he just agreed......

I 'll let you in on a secret, I typed out the original post three times, deleted it twice as I was wondering if it would be appropriate to post it not knowing if I was doing the right thing or not. I had read about his problems and couldn't help admire his courage and strength knowing that he was facing certain death and leaving his young family. In the end I put it up but I really couldn't find the words that would adequately relay my thoughts. I hope I did the big fella justice.
