The stock is a custom by, I believe, Ken Davis (I got it s/h from Dave). I think there are two Dave Kerr's - the one who built this is the benchrest shooter and gunsmith in Perth, and he's definitely not retired - but I think there is also a guy in Melbourne who may be the one you're thinking of.Werribee wrote:Know quality of Shane's work, but had only heard of Dave Kerr.
Lovely wood on that Dave Kerr rifle.
Is it the case that he is now basically retired?

Nice stock on the Sako. I was the original owner of it and had it built by Ken Davis. It is a lovely piece of Tassie Blackwood. Very dense and heavy. Great ergonomics
I sold it to Dave because I wanted a lighter stock for my 75 and he onsold it to you, it appears. Good to see it reached a good home. Rifle looks great.
Cheers, Justin

Yes, it's a very nice piece of wood - I wasn't even in the market for a stock until Dave mentioned he had that and then showed it to me!! Nice high comb too - to the point I can't even get a bore guide in it because it fouls! Have you got a pic of what you replaced it with - it must be something pretty special?!JustinP wrote:Nice stock on the Sako. I was the original owner of it and had it built by Ken Davis. One question - what bipod did you use it with as you had a rail underneath which I didn't want to pull off, rather than the usual stud?

Jeff
I just used a quick-detach picatinny rail adapter for a harris bipod. Just made for fast-on, fast-off with the bipod.
I could get a sinclair bore guide in there. I think I had Dave cut it shorter to help.
You could always take the high comb down a bit?
I've got a Manners composite stock on mine now.
Cheers

Two different David Kerrs. The Melbourne one has retired. This was WA David Kerr work.
