Re: Lets Kick This One Around
Might email Neconos and see if CFE BLK is in there latest version (not the update) or if they can provide burn rate for it yet. Can't hurt to ask.

Re: Lets Kick This One Around
Well, I'll give them (Neconos) credit for a quick reply although I think I know the reason for the speedy response.
My request was along these lines 'Can you advise when CFE BLK will be appearing in your software? Do you have burn rate information for it already that you could share (prior to update being released if you have it) as I'm thinking modification of CFE 223 (being already close to BLK) might be a way to overcome not having it listed.
Neconos reply- No data available. DO NOT attempt to modify CFE 223.
So no word on when it will be included and stern words of advice.
Oh well.

Re: Lets Kick This One Around
I think they were concerned primarily with the modifying CFE223 comment.
Have emailed back to see if they can give an idea of when it may be available.

Re: Lets Kick This One Around
Johno I think your idea of splitting the middle should be close between the 17 and 22 although some powders do so some anomalies.
When looking into a couple of wildcats like 6-223 my reading let me down the path of basically rule of thumb was when necking up you could use the smaller calibre max load to begin with for same weight pill eg 55gr 223 max load with a 55 243 etc.
When doing the 358 swede I used a 338 win or 308 win load with 200grainers and seems to be okay with fireform brass which is also shoved forward into the lands just.
Be careful and have fun

Tell em Con said to harden up
Ryan, got to be a bit mpre careful on the smaller cals the larger are more forgiving but having said that 11.0gr felt very on the light side i'll just take it up 0.3gr and see where I end up.
Will the postman never arrive

Latest from Neconos.
Q. Any idea when CFE BLK will make it into the Quickload database?
A. Up to the thermo-dynamic number gods.
I detect a sense of humour of sorts but not much else.

Re: Lets Kick This One Around
Yes def but instead of 1gr use 0.2 or 0.3 for changes and be safe. With the 5.7 i was 0.3 then near 14 went up in 0.2 and figure was better to be safe than missing something.johno1 wrote:Tell em Con said to harden up

Re: Lets Kick This One Around
Some test reults with CFE BLK & 32gr bullet
11.3gr =2,675 fps
12.2gr =2,704 fps
Very little variation in the two loads between the loads in between so it looks like the 19 calhoon needs loads closer to the K hornet than the 17 AH.
Interesting one was the 7.62x39 with 123 gr bullet my normal load is 2219 that averages around 2,400fps
tried 30gr of CFE and got 2,540, 2,534 & 2,543 fps its a big jump in velocity eh? and they are so close together.
I need to shoot another sambar with this load and the Barnes TST
