tarnished pills

Post by Tackleberry »

gday all i have been stocking up on BURGER projectiles of late

and have noticed there getting tarnished more than i like .

the 7mm ones i have are just a little bit and of no consequence

but the last lot of 6.5mm 130 VLD have a lot more and if you run

your finger nail over it it has a rough fell and i am wondering if

this has the potential to damage a match grade barrel.

they all have some but the ones that worry me are the ones that have it on the bearing surface

dodgy batch or normal wear ?
ive got tarnished pills but none that you can feel,it just discolouration.
i might suggest returning them as factory fault.

I've found it quite a lot lately I haven't worried about it just load and shoot. I've put 1000 down my good 6.5 tube and haven't seen anything to attribute the bullets to abnormal wear.

Wash a couple of them with metho or a citric acid solution and see if you can get it off.
if not its probably hydraulic dents from the forming process ....well the bergers are better at hungry jacks.......

Obviously some moisture or contamination that has allowed accelerated spot corrosion to take place after packaging. Shouldn't be an issue but you should be able to remove with a simple micro-fibre polishing cloth. I'd avoid using chemicals if you can, as you would really want to treat the whole batch to be consistent in that case.

Basically its "when" uncoated copper or brass will tarnish not "if". Flick your retailer/distributor and Berger your batch number and retail purchase date and they should be able to give you some indication if the finish is within their corrosion and time limits.
