A Dear Deer Rifle

Post by MISSED »

A couple of months ago I met a chap who owns a 5000 acre property in the North East of Victoria.Said farm is surrounded by State forest and National Park  :D .Permission to hunt :hunting: there was asked and given 8) .But I have/had one major problem,I had no Deer slaying possible firearm ,
I was thinking of reaching out to Raven and purchasing his Marlin 308. But I was asked if I wanted a Remington 783 in 308 now a chance like that doesn`t come along every day.A Sambar/Pig rich property and a rifle all in the one paragraph
I applied for a PTA paid the $30 fee and picked up the weapon  the only snag was he had lost the magazine which required Google search. A mag was located in Frankistan (A Suburb of Melburnistan I believe)at Diggertactical.
The fee for the Mag was 69 smackers and it even comes with it`s own little pouch thingy Auspost excelled as it was posted at 11.00 am Tuesday and arrived here at in the mailbox at 12 noon Thursday for the cost of 16 AUD.

This rifle was getting expensive  or so I thought as the next purchase was some ammo and I chose Remington 150 gr corelok factory rolled crackers at $54/20 or $104 for 40 rounds I was thinking would do me for a bit.

So far
Rifle $0
PTA $30
Transfer $30
Ammo $104.
$164
The rifle came as a package deal and as so was supplied with a no name brand scope. Which apart from the reticle appearing to be on the piss was as clear as Beer spectacles.Luckily I had a Bushnell 3-9x40 (Korea) that came on a rifle purchase some time ago.It has no turret caps which should allow for dialling up or windage adjustments in the gun bag.

Pics and a rough review to follow.

Sounds like a real bargain.

I'd also be happy to loan you mine if you want as I'd like a second opinion...you may have to sight it in again though

And so what is the verdict? Have you fired it yet? Any meat with it?
