A great bunch of blokes ... much interest was shown in the air rifle ( BSA Hornet 895 fps and JSB .22 Exacts ) particularly by those who have not seen it before. Some were amazed that it handled the choppy little sea breeze well... Not earth shattering scores of course but there are some well prepared Brno, Anschutz and Sako rimfire sporters used .......
Nice to be among some shooters for a change too, rather than my fairly hermit like farm shooting ....... Kind regards, Yrrah.

Harry this is what I posted on the yellow when you said you were in a 3P shoot.
I knew you would have played strong & done good .
It'll be interesting to see how you went against the rim fire guns.
I'm betting you at least held your own.
I'll be a Bowal Pistol club this coming weekend for a 2 day Cowboy lever silhouette shoot. Pistol and rim fire lever and a normal rim fire as well. The next week will be the Canberra club shoot and the week after that is the 2 day ACT Cowboy lever state shoot.
Should be some fun if I can afford the diesel to get there.

Aaaaaah, Harry, ya done it again! Good shooting, sir! It gives me a great deal of pleasure to see someone beat the "powder-burners" with something as "primitive" as a lowly "slug gun".
Mate, you have made my week!!!! Congratulations!
Dennis.

They're a good bunch of blokes, as are most shooters I have met, and I think most enjoyed it as much as I did. They were very generous. But seriously I think it does say something about our beaut little rifles at the girly range of 50 metres and when conditions are not too terrible.Hilly wrote:Aaaaaah, Harry, ya done it again! Re: Sunday 3 Positional Illawarra SSAA Branch Club shoot ...
Well done Harry
About a month ago I took my hornet (.177) down to the local range and tried it out alongside my .22 rimfire. With the JSB exacts (the extra heavies which Lewis kindly put me onto) the hornet was every bit as accurate at 50 as the rimfire (still air on the day). So I find it no surprise that you were competative with your rifle.
You have given me food for thought though. I never considered rocking up to a rimfire comp and shooting the hornet.
I'll have to have a think about that
