I can see some use for this system, even if its copying parts etc, and then getting them copied by a metal machinist, from what I saw when they made the shifter spanner and said that they could scan an item in some remote place, electronically transmit the dimensions to a printer somewhere else. They used the example of a space expedition breaking or loosing a tool, contacting home base scanning the item then printing it out in the space ship.

Want a part for an old obsolete firearm, just scan it to a printer and then get it machined. Hey simple

That's pretty much the idea. Draw it up in CAD and hit the print button. Presto! Instant prototype part.

From this you can either confirm the part dimensions etc or, use the prototype as the master for a casting (or whatnot).

Gotta go....printing a barrel and a scope

kieth that paladin press site sells books on home gunsmithing to make most sorts from semi auto pistols to submachine guns and for the more experienced, bolt action rifles from scratch.
the books i have show you how to make them from scratch, using basic shed tools.complete with details and diagrams.scary stuff.i really wouldnt mind making some but the 15 yrs being bubbas bitch kinda puts me off the whole idea.
